Although there are some parts that need replacement as soon as it shows signs of wear and tear like for instance, the driver belts, most of it only need some thorough cleaning and adjusting to make sure that Dirt Devil Vacuum works well for a long period of time.

Here are some tips in keeping your Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner performing at its best.

For Driver Belts

One of the most problematic Dirt devil vacuum parts is the driver belt. Once it dries up and becomes brittle, replacing them is a must. For Dirt Devil Vacuum cleaners, replacing the belts is as easy as:
  1. Unplugging your vacuum cleaner to avoid electrocution.
  2. Turning it over and laying it flat on the floor. Remove the three screws to take off nozzle guard. Lift and pull nozzle guard out.
  3. Lift and remove brush roll and throw away the old driver belt.
  4. Slip the new driver belt into the motor shaft and place the belt on the area of the brush roll without the bristles.
  5. Pull and slide the brush roll into the nozzle and make sure that the brush roll end caps are in the correct position. To make sure the belt and the brush roll is aligned, rotate the brush roll manually.
  6. Reattach the nozzle guard and secure by aligning the tabs in the base slots.
  7. Replace all the screws.
For Brush roll

Make sure that the brush roll is free of gunk, dust and dirt. Follow the instructions in replacing the driver belts to remove and clean the brush roll.

For Filters

Dirt Devil vacuum filters need not to be replaced immediately once it is clogged. Cleaning it two to three times before replacing them can save you more money than replacing them every now and then.

Should you replace the filters, opt for HEPA filters since it traps 99.9% of dust and dirt that triggers allergy symptoms. One of the most recommended lines of filters from Dust Devil is the ROYAL Dirt Devil Platinum Force Hepa Filter. This fits most of the Dirt Devil Vacuum cleaner model.

Vacuum cleaner bags

For older models, vacuum bags also act as filters. Changing the bags regularly ensures good performance of your vacuum cleaners. Just make sure you choose the right size for your unit.

Also, it helps to keep spare Dirt Devil vacuum parts handy. You’ll never know when your vacuum cleaner will start acting up when you need it the most.
